Grenoble Ecole de Management Program Director & Associate Professor Dr. Philippe Lê and Associate Professor Dr. Michele Coletti led 41 postgraduate MBA students on a visit to Taiwan in an attempt to gain a better understanding of the innovative business models and success stories of iconic local businesses. Yesterday (14), with the arrangement of the Secretariat, they visited the internationally recognized technology company Quanta Computer Inc. The students were impressed by being able to visit the reputable major server manufacturer.

Director-general Yen Tzu-chieh of the Secretariat stated that Taoyuan currently has 32 industrial parks and more than 15,000 factories, offering a comprehensive industry chain. In addition, Taoyuan is home to 17 universities and three national-level research centres, including National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology; Institute of Nuclear Energy Research, Atomic Energy Council, Executive Yuan; and Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories, which clearly shows Taoyuan’s abundance in industrial and academic resources. Quanta Computer is the pride of Taiwan. Last year, the company established an AI laboratory. The research and development center of Quanta and its headquarter are all registered in Taoyuan. Quanta is a successful model for local businesses in Taoyuan. Director-general Yen Tzu-chieh hopes that the students will promote the beauty of Taiwan to other people in France after their visit of Taoyuan.

Grenoble Ecole de Management was named by the Financial Times as one of the top 20 Colleges of Management in Europe, and the college provides one-year technology management and innovation program. Dr. Philippe Lê said that Taiwan’s businesses are known for innovation and high competitiveness worldwide, which match the college’s philosophy of cultivating talent with global perspective and innovative ideas. Therefore, Grenoble Ecole de Management chose Taiwan as the country of exchange this year. The visit to Quanta Computer allows the students to have a more practical understanding of the development of the technology industry in another country and is helpful for broadening their horizons.

Quanta Computer is in the ranks of Fortune Global 500 and Forbes Global 2000. Globally, one in every four laptops is designed and manufactured by Quanta Computer. The company also develops servers with high-efficiency and its clients include many major known companies worldwide. In addition to providing products and solutions for cloud integration such as servers, storage devices, and communication devices, Quanta Computer recently established the AI laboratory which focuses mainly on smart medicine, smart manufacturing, and smart transport to continue to realize the company’s vision of “changing people’s life with innovation”.

Director-general Yen mentioned that Grenoble is known as Europe’s Silicon Valley. Grenoble and Taoyuan are sister cities that share a strong friendship and many exchanges. Taoyuan is currently promoting the Asia Silicon Valley Project; thus, the two cities can take this opportunity to learn from each other. Tomorrow (16th), the Grenoble Ecole de Management delegation is scheduled to visit Asia Silicon Valley Development Agency and Chung Yuan Christian University’s Executive Operation Center for Industry-Academia Cooperation, giving Taoyuan the opportunity to showcase its achievements in the high-tech industry to the world.

The municipal delegation was led by Yen Tzu-chieh, Director-general of the Secretariat. Members of the Grenoble Ecole de Management delegation include Program Director & Associate Professor Dr. Philippe Lê, Associate Professor Dr. Michele Coletti, and 41 students. Quanta Computer was represented by supervisors from BU9 and the Human Resources Department.
